Animals Speak, The animal's world.

I was wondering whether animals speak for freedom. Yes, they do speak for freedom. I didn't know animals do have the freedom called animals freedom like we humans have human rights.

Why do people hate animals as if they have done something wrong to us? We can't justify by saying I love animals. Our justification should be in action. What we can do to show that we love animals. There are many ways that we can show love towards animals. Treating animals as good as we treat our pets is one way. That isn't enough. Not consuming animals' flesh would be the finest love we can show to animals.

Why do we have to love animals? The reason is so simple because of hate we have for animals they are suffering a lot. If we have the finest love as I mentioned before, animals won't suffer. The immense pain and torture in a dark house are unbearable. Animals never wish to go to the dark house to end their life. They want to end their life peacefully like ours. They never want to end life when life is not come to the end. Animals do wish for a peaceful life.

What if we don't consume animals, will we starve and die? The answer would be no. We won't starve by not consuming animal flesh. We have many alternative plant-based foods that will keep us healthy.

Why we have to refrain from consuming animal flesh? Do you believe in happiness? All living beings wish to have happiness and avoid suffering. In this transient period of life, how can we be selfish that we want to live long and stay strong by consuming animal flesh? That idea is not an intelligent idea from a most civilized man on the earth.

Saving animals and Government coming up with slaughter house I

Majority of Bhutanese are Buddhist. The core concepts of Buddhist is LAY JU DREY and THA DAMTSE. We believe in Karma. What we sow shall be ripe for the future. So, if we do good things today, the good things is going to follow in the future. Buddhism is the religion where it believe about Reincarnation. Many great Lama come to world again and again after they passed away because they did great things when they were on the earth. Similarly, we the common people have a chance to come to the world for second time after our death only if we do good things in this life. What we are experiencing in this life, good and bad experiences are the result of the action from previous life. If we have done good things, we will experience good things today. Therefore, what we will experience in next life will depend on today's deeds.

In Buddhism, we believe that each and every one on the earth has become our parents in one of the previous life. Even all animals has become our parents in one of the life. True Buddhist followers believe all living being on the earth are our parents and they will never eat parents meat. However, there are group of people who pretend to following the Buddhism but doing contradictory action. These people will have thousand of reasons just to eat innocent animals which was our parents once in precious life. I have seen many Buddhist followers reasoning out Buddha personally granted cow, pig, hen, cock and so on as vegetables. That is the creepy reason from fellow Buddhist practitioner. I am lost when they reason out like they eat animals for balancing eco-systems. This is another blunders that many Buddhist argue me when I request them to go vegetarian.

As I said in earlier paragraph, the silly reasons why Buddhist eat meat. I will again focus on another reason they point out. There are few Buddhist who argue me that eating meat is same as smoking. Guru Rinpoche has personally advice us to refrain from smoking since it is plant grown out of evil's prayers.  It is another creepy and astonishing reason from fellow Buddhist. How can we compare eating animals and smoking plant as same. If you are Buddhist you should refrain from eating meat from many points of views. One most simple reason is animals are our parents once in our previous life. If you are true Buddhist followers, you will never think of eating your parents meat.

I find a good reason to eat parents meat if we are going to die if we don't eat. I have never heard about people dying because not consuming meats. There is no point of arguing to eat meat. If you can't avoid simply tell you can't avoid. But why you can't avoid. The main reason is the habit. Your taste bud has cultivate habit to taste meat as tastier than any other food which actually is not. It is just matter of trying. Even a vegetables will taste better than meat if your taste bud has a habit.

To be honest, I really feel pity on someone when they eat meat. It is sad that people are eating animals for their taste bud pleasure.

I feel there is no point to bring Buddhism in between when we discuss about meat. The only reason I don't meat is because of pain. My religion is not Buddhism but peace. I can feel pain just from simple hit but did you realize the pain which animals are undergoing in deadly slaughter house. The pain which our parent are going through in slaughter house is immeasurable. Refraining from eating parent meat could be one of the element which directly contributing you as a Buddhist.

Is there any reason other than 1. ECO SYSTEM BALANCING
                                                 2. SAME AS SMOKING.

                                                 3. ANIMALS ARE LIKE VEGETABLES.

His Eminence Tshukla Lopen of Zhung Dratshang

               Jangchub Shing- Buddhism and Vegetarianism
Kuzuzangpo, I would like to thank the trainess and the faculty of the RIM and the Honourable guests. I am very happy to be a part of this talk show called “Buddhism and Vegetarianism” which has so much relevance with Buddhism. Generally in Buddhism, there are vast and profound teachings regarding the consumption of meat: yet, I cannot claim to have the authority or the knowledge to teach. However, I will share with you the little that I know from my experience with you within the short duration of this talk. The primary reason behind not eating meat as taught by Lord Buddha is that being a Buddhist, our belief is rooted in the “Law of KARMA (action and fruition)”, the ‘action’ is as taught by Lord Buddha “All Dharma arises out of action”. Thus, we as Buddhist should believe in action as taught by the Buddha, which consists of two –virtuous and non-virtuous; and Buddha also clearly taught in detail about the results of both virtuous and non-virtuous action. From limited understanding, generally all sentient beings once born with a body need food to sustain that body, as the Lord Buddha said “all sentient beings are sustained by food”. This is shared and accepted by science as well. Now, food itself, in ancient times is divided into 4 different types according to the Buddha Dharma. Which can be condensed into two- solid and soft. Aeons ago, human beings did not have to rely on solid food for sustenance, but rather they relied on the food/nourishment of Samadhi which in turn gave their bodies a natural glow and lightness; they lived a long life as well. All these qualities were the result of the different kind of pure nourishment.
Later on, as time passed, and as people’s mental afflictions such as attachment, anger, ignorance grew, the ability to sustain their bodies with pure Nourishment diminished; hence they were compelled to consume solid food to sustain and nourish themselves. As they continued to consume solid food, their natural glow started disappearing, they started getting heavier, and their life span as well became shorter. Now, meat falls within the classification of solid nourishment. Solid nourishment itself is also sub-divided into two, which are pure and impure. Meat falls within the impure subdivision as taught by Buddha. The reason for meat being impure is due to the fact that meat is a product of having killed a living being. It is obvious to all of us that all animals also cherish their lives as much as we do, the fact that they hide, run away and cry in pain are obvious signs that their lives are dear and precious to them. As life is precious and clear to all beings, the act of taking life is thus taught to be the most non-virtuous deed by the Buddha, in the teaching of Karma, “there is no other higher non-virtuous deed than, the act of taking life from the ten non-virtuous actions, the act of killing is the most non-virtuous action”. As a result of the act of killing, in this lifetime not only the space of where the act is committed, but even the acquaintances of the person who commits the act are effected. In future lives, all who have commits and are associated with the act are born in the lower realms, and have to bear the suffering there for aeons. Even if one is freed and reborn as human, as a direct consequence of having taken another’s life, one will encounter many life-threatening obstacles. The Buddha taught in detail, that the act of killing gives rise to 4 distinct fruitions/results in the Buddha Dharma. Abstaining from eating meat is one of the many skillful means that the Buddha taught; as the act of killing is considered to be one of the gravest of all non-virtuous deeds and the source of suffering in this life and all future lives.
From another point of view, depending on the mind and time factor of the followers the Buddha taught many different faults on eating meat, so that one will abstain from the act of killing. Again, from another perspective, as we are also habituated to consuming meat that took over a period of time, it is difficult to abstain from that habit at once. To break this habit, in the teachings of Buddha, he taught how to free oneself from the desire of eating meat by looking at 3 point; 1. By looking at the source, 2. By looking at the nature and 3. By looking at the result. First, to elaborate on what we mean by contemplating on the source, is that for example if we look at the source of being human, and also if we take example of a cow, how are its flesh and bones formed? When we deeply contemplate on this, the teachings of the Buddha teaches that our body is divided into two, flesh and bones. And the main source of the flesh and bones are the father’s semen and the mother’s eggs. From the father’s semen the bones is formed and the mother’s eggs the flesh is formed, therefore it is considered impure. Thus, one should deeply contemplate whether the impure product coming from an impure source is fit for consumption? What I just shared with you is the method of abstaining from meat consumption through the contemplation of the source of the meat.
Second, to contemplate on the nature of meat if one were to set a piece of meat, vegetable and fruit together. The fruit and vegetable is pleasant to look at, smells fresh and when consumed delicious; unlike the piece of meat, which is a lump of flesh covered in blood and unpleasant to look at, foul smelling and should one eat it unusual and distasteful. So, one should deeply contemplate how the nature of meat is different from other products, and thus, this is the way of abstaining from meat consumption by contemplating the nature/reality of the meat.
The third method of contemplating the result, after the consumption of the meat the result is that it obscures our mind, organs and awareness. For example if an intelligent person consumes meat for a long period of time, this person will naturally lose his intelligence and other abilities. On the contrary, a person who does not consume meat will be active and fresh; for example a Dharma practitioner who was otherwise eager to practice, will after the consumption of meat naturally become sleepy, drowsy and will also lose interest in virtuous deeds; as well as, other activities as a whole. The other ill-effects of eating meat is that it makes one susceptible to more disease. Thus, by contemplating the pros and cons of what I have shared, one should be able to see the benefits of not consuming meat and the ill-effects of consuming meat. So, these are the ways that the Buddha shared as skillful means to abstain from meat consumption by looking at the cause, nature and the results of consuming meat.
Further, in some other teachings of the Buddha, he has taught us that all sentient beings including oneself are all born as parents. Now, the reason is because we are born in samsara not just in this lifetime, but we have been born many times before in this samsara. During those lives, we must have been born as either a human or an animal, and similar to this life we must have been born to parents, and if one were to contemplate all past lives with their parents, then the number of lives and number of parents is innumerable, thus by using this logic we can come to the understanding that all sentient beings have been our parents at one point with no exceptions. If one were put in a situation where you had to consume the flesh of your present parents; would you be able to? Similarly, all animals have been our parents who have given us birth, love and support. Thus, they all are our benevolent parents, the reason we are not able to recognize them is due to the length of time and the obscuration that has grown over innumerable lifetimes. Hence, the Buddha says that one should ask oneself, is the flesh of one’s past parents’ consumable or not? Can one eat it or not? This is yet another skillful means taught by the Buddha to abstain from consuming meat. As all of you must already be familiar with this story, during the time of the Buddha there were 8 exceptional disciples, one of them was the Arahat Katayana, who was the Buddha’s representative for the rural areas. He used to teach and tame the inhabitants there, one day while on his alms round, he saw a women holding a baby in her arms, and eating a fish curry, with a dog beside her. He saw the dog trying to eat the fish bones discarded by the women, but the women was beating the dog when it attempted to eat the fishbone. Katayana saw through his power of clairvoyance, that the dog was the women’s mother reborn, the fish that she was eating was her father reborn and her baby was her arch-enemy in her past life. Thus she was holding her enemy in her arms, and eating father’s meat while beating her mother. In the case of the dog and fish, the wife was eating her husband. Similar to the example just shared, we have no means of knowing what form our loved ones who have passed away have been reborn as, and it is highly likely that should they be born as a fish that it would be an unimaginable non-virtuous act to consume their flesh. Thus, by contemplating on these examples and logic one should refrain from consuming meat.
Likewise, the bodies of all sentient being consist of the 5 aggregates, the Buddha said that the bodies of animals such as fish, pig e.t.c also consist of 5 aggregates. The true nature of the 5 aggregates are the 5 Dhayani Buddhas. Thus, the act of killing animals or the act of harming an animal is like killing or harming the body of Buddha Vairocana, and one also accumulates the negative karma of such a heinous act. In the process of taking life, one has to destroy all the 5 aggregates of which the form aggregate is Buddha Vairocana, the perception aggregate is Buddha Ratnasambhava, etc. in short the 5 Dhayani Buddhas, astaught in the Vajrayana teachings. Taking these truths into consideration, when one performs the act of killing, one accumulates the negative karma of killing the 5 Dhayani Buddhas; thus, one should refrain from the act of killing and consuming meat. Likewise the Buddha said that all sentient beings without exception have the Buddha essence, Thathagata Garba. Since we all have the potential of being a Buddha, killing a sentient being is destroying the seed of liberation; thus, one should refrain from the act of killing. What I have just shared with you is from an advanced belief within the Buddha’s teaching; and what I shared with you earlier about the source, the nature and the result is from mundane perspective. Though the teachings are varied in its profound exposition, the core essence of these teachings is to refrain oneself from the act of killing and the faults that lie with the act of killing and consuming meat.
As we are all aware, being vegetarian from scientific point of view not only extends one’s life, but you enjoy a healthier life as well. Even from a Dharmice point of view, sustaining oneself on a vegetarian diet which is considered as a pure diet further increases one’s life span, due to the power and benefit of virtue; moreover being vegetarian improves one’s personal, and environmental hygiene. If one consumes the impure diet, than as a result of this one will be susceptible to diseases, and a short life. If possible one, should try to refrain from eating meat for the full duration of one’s life, if not try for a few months. Bhutan being a Buddhist country and living up to its name, the Government and the people unanimously adopted a law that bans the sale of meat products for 2 months out of a year in the kingdom. During that time, not consuming meat for 2 months has immense benefits. If one is not able to stop for months, than one should try to be vegetarian during the auspicious days (8, 10, 15, 25, and 30) of the month. Even being a vegetarian for a day during those auspicious days has immense benefits. Not only refraining oneself but also advising and supporting others to not consume meat has equal and immense benefit. What I have shared with you is abridges version of what I have learned. The reason for sharing with you just an abridged version, is firstly I do not claim to have the knowledge and secondly nor does time permit to go in depth. The Buddha said that, it is not compulsory to refrain from eating meat for a lifetime nor for a whole year for beginners, but to start by refraining for a day. In a day we usually have 3 meals, and out of those 3 meals try eating one meal without meat, and even 1 meatless meal has lot of benefits. Otherwise, out of 3 meals, abstain from meat consumption for 2 meals. These are all skillful methods of making the act of not consuming meat a habit. So, as beginners one should follow a gradual path to being a vegetarian and avoid extremes. We being born as Buddhist, accept the law of Karma, and eating meat goes against this law of action and fruition. Thus, I request everyone to abstain from consuming meat, by being mindful of what I have shared with you.
I would like to specifically clarify that while the Buddha Dharma teaches that one should not consume meat, yet some lamas, accomplished master and in the teaching of Vajrayana the use of meat is mandatory. When the Vajrayana teachings say that meat is mandatory, it does not imply that an animal needs to be slaughtered; in fact, the meat used should be of an animal that has died a natural death, and that too, the meat requirement is very less and used for Ganachakra and other offerings. Even the person who is performing or handling the ceremonies that requires meat, should be an accomplished master and not somebody ordinary like us. I would further like to request and offer some heartfelt advice to you all that one should not feel and think that just by abstaining from eating meat, you can indulge in other non-virtuous and harmful deeds. Just as meat consumption is a non-virtuous act, similarly one should avoid other impure products such as drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Even if one abstains from meat consumption, if one indulges in alcohol, tobacco and drugs than as a local saying goes, it would be like mixing medicine with poison. By refraining oneself from impure products like drugs, alcohol and tobacco one can accumulate vast merit. Buddha said sue to the power of the merit that one has accumulated from the abstinence of impure products one will be able to fulfill all their wishes. The use of impure products bring forth obstacles in life and obstructs the successful completion of one’s efforts. Merit and virtuous action are synonymous. Thus, contemplating on this life and future lives it is practical that one should refrain from non-virtuous action and adopt virtuous action. And, without the 10 non-virtuous action the act of killing is considered as the primary non-virtuous act, the Buddha Dharma teaches that when one refrains from the primary non-virtuous act, it is easier to refrain and abandon the other 9 non-virtuous actions. When one refrains from act of killing, one naturally becomes a vegetarian.

In conclusion, I hope and pray that as a result of this talk show that all the people assembled here, will at least practice refraining from impure products for at least a day if not a lifetime; and find sustenance with pure products. Moreover, I sincerely hope that you can practice all that I have shared with you, and will provide advice and support to others as well. Today, as much as I would have liked to explain the teachings in detail, as I do not possess the knowledge and exposure I was not able to do so; and, should my words be incorrect and incomplete, more importantly, if I have offended any of your sensibilities then I offer my sincere apology. I hope that you will accept my apology, thank you, Kadinchey.

The Fact behind the difference between meat and apple. Difference between meat and vegetable

They have their own reasons for defending their choice to eat meat. They argue that many insects are killed when consuming vegetables, and therefore, it is better to eat meat.

Now, let's consider an example. Let's compare a cow and a cabbage. A cow eats grass to survive, and while doing so, it unknowingly kills insects. We can't count how many insects a cow might have killed while eating grass and walking. It would be more than the number of insects on a cabbage.

Furthermore, we know that a cow carries parasites on its body. When a cow is slaughtered, all the parasites die. It is unimaginable how many insects are killed before a cow reaches us as meat.

When a cabbage is cut for consumption, it does not express pain. The fact is that cabbage does not have a soul.

In contrast, when a cow is brought to a slaughterhouse for killing, we can observe tears rolling from its eyes. A cow tries to escape when it sees other cows being killed. The rolling tears and attempts to escape clearly show that a cow has a mind like humans. A cow experiences fear, just like we do when someone threatens to harm us. A cow feels the same pain as humans do. We can't even bear a minor pinch, let alone imagine being killed.

We are Buddhists and believe in Buddhist teachings. Are you also Buddhist, and do you believe in these teachings? The great masters of Buddhism have stated that all animals were our parents in a previous life. Eating meat is like consuming the flesh of our parents. We should respect our present and past parents. We tend to gravitate towards what tastes good without considering the negative effects. This is due to ignorance.

To non-Buddhists, avoiding meat consumption is not only for Buddhists; it is something that non-Buddhists should also consider. Do you feel pain when someone hits you or when you accidentally hurt yourself? Are you happy when you suffer? Are you happy when your parents suffer? Are you happy when your friends suffer? Would you be happy if someone tried to kill you? Do you fear death?

Based on the above questions, we need to reflect on how they relate to a cow that is consumed as beef. A cow feels pain when it gets hit. A cow suffers from pain, just like we do. A cow fears death, just like we do. A cow feels unhappy when its companions are killed.

The simple reason for avoiding meat consumption is the avoidance of pain. We humans are the civilized beings on Earth, but we become cruel animals when we take the lives of animals for the pleasure of our taste buds.

Therefore, let's not assume that vegetables have insects and that it is better to eat meat. We can each choose our own path, whether it involves eating vegetables or meat. It is a personal choice, but let's refrain from influencing others with false information.

Let's respect our parents of all three times—past, present, and future.

3 reason why you should refrain from eating meat.

It is impossible to entirely give up meat and switch to plant based diet to one who love meat so much. However it is possible to switch to vegetarian. There are many advantages of consuming plant based diet than meat.

Diseases prevention is one of the reason.
According to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, giving up meat can reduce your risks of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney stones, gallstones and osteoporosis. And many disease related to red meat. Furthermore, by eating more fruits and vegetables can cut risks of high cholesterol, heart attack and stroke. The drop in such risk factors is partly due to lower cholesterol intake, since plant-based food items are cholesterol-free and dairy products tend to be lower in cholesterol than meat.

Another advantage is Ecological Advantages. Which is related to environment.
Plant-based diets also offer greater benefits for the environment than diets that include meat. Many researcher found that vegetarian diets use approximately a ton and a half less carbon dioxide per year than typical meat diets. Meats and meat products, as well as the methods used to process them, create more pollution and require more resources than the production methods for plant-based products. So, vegetarianism can be an environmentally conscious, economical and health-conscious choice.

Finally Weight Control is advantages of being vegetarian.
If you are concern about your health and losing weight, becoming vegetarian is the good solution.  Eating a vegetarian diet provides several health benefits including those associated with weight control.  since vegetarian eat a plant-based diet, vegetarians tend to consume fewer calories, less fat and have a lower body mass index. BMI is an estimate of body-fat levels. Animal foods, including meat and dairy products, are high in fat, especially saturated fat and cholesterol. The additional fat in these foods not only increase calorie consumption, they elevate the risk of chronic disease.

My ROAD to VEGETARIANISM

I was born in a society where meats were eaten normally like any vegetables. I was brought up in a society where I was made to think animals are meant for vegetables. However, I am never fond of meat. I didn't realize that animals need happiness like what we human beings desire. I didn't realize animals were our parents and friends. I even didn't realize animals suffer a dreadful fear in slaughtering houses just because to fulfill the enjoyment to our taste bud. Now, I learned that even from a Buddhist point of view killing is not a merit deed, and need to respect animals as our parents.
It was those innocent childhood days that I went fishing. It was just for fun as fishing fish out of the river with its mouth hooked by the hook was interesting but never to be realized they were suffering a lot. Nobody told me they suffered and killing is a sin.

As I kept on studying and learning about the world and living beings, I realized what I did was wrong. After a decade of mind education, today I realized animals are our parents and friends. The deed like fishing and also thinking of animals as vegetables were wrong. I regret my sinful deed. It was only in 2007 when I was in class nine that the realization come to my mind. After completing class nine, I planned to go vegetarian from 2008. The plan never went as planned and I failed. The failed planed went from 2008, 2009, and 2010. I completed my class 12 and it was in 2011 where a miracle happened.

I was at the Royal University of Bhutan (College of Science and Technology) where I met my friend Rigzin Dorji in 2011. He was vegetarian for 6 years ago. Today he is still vegetarian and it is 13 years of vegetarian for him. He is healthy. He was my source of inspiration. I quit meat and become a vegetarian. Nobody told me to quit meat. Many asked me to eat meat for the nutrient requirement for my body. Their forcing of meat-eating let me think myself. Will I not survive without meat? No, I will survive because there are many societies where they never eat meat and live healthy like any other man. My question is how grasses-eating animals are surviving. They are not eating meat. When they could survive, I will survive. I may eat grass which is food for animals. But remember grass or food we feed to animals for raising meat is a higher quantity than we vegetarians consume. Otherwise, it should have fed the hunger of Africa and the world. The water feed to animals for raising meat will be enough for human consumption in a drought area. Vegetarian is indirectly saving the mother earth.

And my road to vegetarianism goes further. In 2012, I was in another home and have to eat meat. They said that you have given up meat yourself and there will be no sin. They meant I haven't taken any vow from Lama. It was my mistake that I didn't have a vow from Lama. So, if you think you want to quit meat then take a vow from Lama so that others won't force you to eat meat.
The fluctuation of meat-eating goes on until I was in Spain (2014). Many vegetarians become non-vegetarian as they reach Europe. My story is a different one. I converted myself to a vegetarian. I realized it was just because of the environment I couldn't convert before to vegetarian. Don't wait for the special day to come to convert yourselves from non-vegetarian to vegetarian. The special day will never come. The special day is every day. I am sorry to make one statement that people are wrong to say "vegetarian or vegan life is difficult in Europe". I didn't find any difficulties in diets. It was just excuses that non-vegetarians made as always to eat meat.

In 2016, I took a vow from my root teacher (Lama) to quit meat for my whole life. Today, I am happy about being a vegetarian. I am healthy like any other non-vegetarian. I love animals like my parents.
In context to our society, people believed women should eat meat for delivery purposes. But there are societies where women were vegetarian and no problem has occurred while delivering. I even saw many Bhutanese women who were vegetarian and nothing has happen to them during delivery time. I think it is just a myth which we believed.

World Health Organization (from a scientific point of view) has found meats cause cancers and many meat-related diseases. It is said that eating vegetables is far better than meat.
From the Buddhist point of view, animals were all our parents once in our previous life. So, consuming animals is indirectly consuming our parent's meat. So, eating meat is not good from a Buddhist point of view.

The reason why I quit meat and why we should quit.
The only difference between humans and animals is we are human beings and they are living beings. And we know how to speak and they don't. However, both want happiness like a human beings. It is not justifiable when we eat another living being who also wants to live long. Let us respect animals. Let us refrain from eating meat. Even if we can't stop completely, let us minimize the rate of eating.
The good news in Bhutan is that every organization and NGO are going vegetarian during conference and meeting. Also during the farewell to the outgoing or incoming candidate.
Anything to be added? Will you quit meat? Will you minimize the rate of eating? Animals need happiness.

Wanting to be vegetarian.

I planned to become vegetarian but I failed. I won't give up easily. I am waiting for auspicious day to quit meat to become vegetarian. I goggled and found many advantages for being vegetarian.

Following are the advantages I found:
1. Lower risk of lung and colorectal cancer. A diet filled with fruits, vegetables, and fiber can help reduce the risk of lung disease and related illnesses.
2. Prevention of Type 2  diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is becoming more common with the rise of obesity around the world, and vegetarian diets may even can prevent it by including complex carbs and fiber that help the body manage insulin more efficiently.
3. Healthy skin. Diets rich in water-based and plant foods are a rich source of antioxidants and vitamins-ideal for healthier skin every season.
4. Chemical-free food. Meat-based diets take in animal cells and fats, along with chemicals and by products used on the animals during processing. This can include chemicals sprayed on the dead animal, preservatives, and other unnatural ingredients used for packaging and mass distribution.
5. Hormone-free eating. Fruits, vegetables, and soy products are never injected with growth hormones and other chemicals that may harm the human body.
6. Increased energy. With the body spending less time digesting animal protein, an energy boost is a nice side effect.
7. Lower blood pressure. Vegan and vegetarian diets can be naturally low in fat and sodium, helping reduce blood pressure and improve circulation instead.
8. Improved digestion. Plant-based foods and fresh fruita are rich in fiber, improving the digestion and elimination process. High fiber diets have also been linked to preventing certain types of cancer.
9. Lowered risk of diabetes. Steady blood sugar is easily achieved with a nutritions vegetarian diet, and the cycle of blood sugar peaks and crashes is almost eliminated without the meat and unhealthy carb combinations.
10. Lower grocery shopping bills. By shopping the perimeter of the grocery store and stocking up on high-fiber, highly nutritious food, vegetarians can eliminate almost 25% of their food budgets without pounds of meat on the bill. In some cases this balances out if the vegetarian shopper chooses to buy premium veg brands and gourmet ingredients, but average costs do tend to be much lower per trip.
11. Toxin-free food. Some studies suggest that when animals experience fear, the adrenaline rush causes a release of epinephrine, steroids, and other stress hormones into the bloodstream. These are then ingested by the meat eater, presenting a range of toxins that can accumulate in the blood.
12. Healthy amino acids. Plant-based proteins (e.g. soy) can be an excellent source of amino acids that help with protein assimilation and metabolism.
